System Description

The KUDO® is a large-format line source loudspeaker system operating over a frequency range of 35 Hz to 20 kHz. When combined with SB18 or SB28 subwoofer reinforcement, the low-frequency response can be extended down to 32 Hz or even 25 Hz, respectively.

This quad-amplified, 3-way loudspeaker features:

Two 12-inch low-frequency transducers in a bass-reflex enclosure
Four high-efficiency 5-inch midrange transducers
A high-frequency section consisting of two coupled 1.75-inch diaphragm compression drivers loaded with DOSC® waveguides
A mechanically adjustable directivity control system using deflectors allows four different horizontal coverage angles by modifying the mid/high directivity in the plane perpendicular to the DOSC® waveguide. The combination of coplanar geometry and DOSC® waveguide technology fulfills all five WST® criteria.

Construction & Rigging

The KUDO® enclosure is built from premium Baltic birch plywood, ensuring outstanding mechanical integrity. Its fully captive four-point rigging system, integrated into the cabinet, is manufactured from high-strength steel.

Vertical suspension: up to 21 KUDO® elements, with inter-element angles adjustable from 0° to 10° in 1° increments

Horizontal configuration: constant 10° curvature, certified for up to 6 KUDO® elements using the K-LIFT system

Amplification & Control

The system is powered and managed by the dedicated L-Acoustics LA8 controller, providing active linearization, transducer protection, and two optimized operating modes:

Line Source “Large Band” mode – for operation without subwoofers

Line Source “High Pass” mode – for use with bass reinforcement or broadcast applications

Each mode offers three preset variations, optimizing tonal balance according to deflector positions at 50°, 80°, or 110°. System performance depends on the selected preset and configuration.

Systembeschreibung

Das KUDO® ist ein großformatiges Line-Source-Lautsprechersystem mit einem Übertragungsbereich von 35 Hz bis 20 kHz. In Kombination mit SB18 oder SB28 Subwoofern kann der Tieftonbereich auf 32 Hz bzw. 25 Hz erweitert werden.

Das vierfach verstärkte 3-Wege-System verfügt über:

Zwei 12-Zoll-Tieftöner in Bassreflex-Bauweise

Vier hocheffiziente 5-Zoll-Mitteltöner

Einen Hochtonbereich mit zwei gekoppelten 1,75-Zoll-Kompressionstreibern mit DOSC® Waveguides

Ein mechanisch einstellbares Richtwirkungs-System mit Deflektoren ermöglicht vier unterschiedliche Abstrahlwinkel im Mittel-/Hochtonbereich. Die Kombination aus koplanarer Geometrie und DOSC®-Waveguide-Technologie erfüllt sämtliche WST®-Kriterien.

Konstruktion & Rigging

Das KUDO® Gehäuse besteht aus hochwertigem Baltic-Birch-Multiplex, was höchste mechanische Stabilität gewährleistet. Das vollständig integrierte 4-Punkt-Rigging-System aus hochfestem Stahl ist komplett gefangen ausgeführt.
